How To Meet People in NYC

August 18, 2008

I don’t know about the rest of you that live in NYC, but I have been here for almost 2 years, and other than the friends I’ve met through work, or my church, I have one hell of a time making friends! I’ve also lived in Chicago, and Wisconsin, and no other place I’ve been have I had as much difficulty making friends than I have here. When I first moved I was talking to my co-worker who said she also had a very difficult time, so she took up knitting, and joined a knitting club to meet people (I am not even joking). A few other people I’ve talked to have also said the only way they’ve been able to meet people is through volunteering, joining a group, or networking events. The nice thing about the networking events that are hosted in the city is that they are full of people wanting to meet other people.

I’ve attended a few of these networking events and my favorite one is No Tie Networking. It’s a networking group that is full of younger professionals, without being so stuffy. Usually there is a networking event at a bar once a month. There is no entry fee, but drinks are on your own. Be sure to bring a business card as they are the easiest way to get your name & number out there, but mostly it’s just a great way to meet a lot of people.

Here is the next event:

Ellen and Portia Get Hitched!

August 18, 2008

Ellen and Portia were married in an intimate ceremony on Saturday. After 5 years of being together the couple celebrated with 19 guests, including both of their mothers, wearing Zac Posen. According to a source they were “hugging and kissing and looking ecstatic.” They exchanged Neil Lane platinum and diamond wedding bands. Portia’s 3 carat engagement ring was made by the same designer. Congrats to the happy couple!

7 For All Mankind

August 18, 2008

7forallmankind_brand_120x60_2.21.08

Long time celebrity favorite, this brand has been worn by: Paris Hilton, Sienna Miller, Beyoncé Knowles, Eva Longoria, Rachel Bilson, Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen, Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz, Halle Berry, Lauren Conrad, Jennifer Aniston. I’ve often wondered why 7 for all mankind jeans have such a huge fan base, and have seen the red carpet more than a pair of Dior heels (well maybe not more but pretty darn close), and so I started to investigate.

I have found that almost anyone can wear these gorgeous jeans and look sophisticated and sleek. The cut is phenomenal and they pay such a close attention to detail. From the stitching and hard-wear to the pockets and finish. It’s no wonder that they are worn by so many celebrities are wearing these during the day and at night at the red carpet.

Try them and write your review here, tell me what you think.
